There are many explanations of what a Kraken is! A quick check on the internet will yield many different options...from a giant squid, to a mythical creature that took down the Titans.

Our Kraken is much fiercer than any giant mythical monster. Our “Kraken” represents the everyday hustle and bustle of daily life. Stress and anxiety has pulled mankind down faster than any huge monster has ever done. Each tentacle of the Kraken is another bill, deadline, repair, lousy job, stupid boss/employee, taxes, too many calories, not enough sleep, too hot, too cold, or any other daily hassle bogging you down. That is our Kraken; the Kraken of the Daily Grind!
 
Most people that fought the Kraken lost, but the SteamPunk Pirates have figured out “you don’t fight the beast…you tame it!” We boldly embrace the Kraken and offer it a resting spot upon our bow. While the beast is subdued, the SeasaveYour Krewe can unwind. That is, until the Kraken begins to become restless and we have to get back to the grind.
 
Our flying Methane-powered pirate ship is a pipe dream a long time coming, conjured up by Captain Billy Blacktoes – and finally brought to life through the help of a handful of trusted friends who said “Lead and we will follow.”

After many months of Fundraising, scouring yards and internet sites for leads, we found a steel trailer body, and began the lengthy process of designing and building our Float- The Kraken!
 
Our float is built from hand rolling 350 ft of 1 inch square tubing, and welding it to the a steel I beam constructed frame on a triple axel trailer. It was professionally built by BaySide Construction of Tampa Bay.  We utilize a SteamPunk Theme in the design, with dazzling and interactive lighting and effects throughout the float.  
 
Custom Fiberglass work of The Giant Kraken utilizing our logo was completed by a master craftsman in the Krewe and much of our decking was salvaged through recycling. Lots of sleepless nights, some imagination, and lots of teamwork we have a 43ft long X 11 ft high X 10 ft wide flying Pirate Ship!! With a full bar, 2 restrooms, and kegorater -- fully powered by Honda Generators.
